Our History
The Boys & Girls Club of Missoula County was chartered on December 31, 1997. We began as a teen program focused on serving high school aged students from our original location on the Hip Strip in downtown Missoula.
Shortly into the Clubs existence we found that elementary school aged kids needed a safe place to be after school. So the Club expanded and formed partnerships with schools, churches and community organizations to help support our efforts of adding more Club locations and services. We work hard to adapt to the changing demographics of Missoula so we can continue provide a safe, fun and affordable place for Missoula youth to go each day.
With over 25 years into this incredible and rewarding journey, we are grateful to still be serving the families of Missoula County. Thank you for being part of our family!
OF AMERICA
The Boys & Girls Clubs of America was founded in 1860 in Hartford, Connecticut by 3 women who felt that boys roaming the streets needed a positive alternative. They created The Boys Club to provide a safe place for boys. The goal of the organization was to improve behavior and increase the boys personal expectations and goals.
In 1990, the organization became the Boys & Girls Clubs of America. But the legacy of helping our members realize high personal expectations, goals and good character remains true all throughout BGC Clubs.
Boys & Girls Clubs of America have developed 6 areas of programming. Not every local club offers every program, but every club has the same goal; to help members reach their full potential as productive, caring, responsible citizens.
