DESMET CLUBHOUSE

DeSmet School

6355 Padre Ln, Missoula, MT 59808

We are thrilled to have added the DeSmet School to our Boys & Girls Club of Missoula County community beginning with the 2019-20 school year!

Located in the school, our DeSmet Clubhouse has access to a variety of the school's resources, including art, computers, gym space, and outdoor recreation opportunities (please note: COVID-19 may impact the use of some of the school's spaces during Club hours). We're so thankful to have the school rallying behind this new Clubhouse!

The DeSmet Clubhouse provides a home after school to more than 15 young people, ages 5-12, from DeSmet School. Additionally, thanks to the support of DeSmet School and the Washington Foundation, our DeSmet Clubhouse is provided to DeSmet students and families at no cost. And, thanks to our partners at the Missoula Food Bank, DeSmet Club Members also receive a healthy, 5-course snack at no cost every day.

The DeSmet Clubhouse is led by an incredible duo of Club professionals who, in partnership with the school and families, have built a wonderful Club experience.

For more information on the DeSmet program, please contact our Director of Programming, Jourdyn Browning, at 406-542-3116 or jourdyn@bgcmissoulacounty.org.

Serving DeSmet Elementary

How do we start our days?

Hours: Club starts at school release and ends at 6PM on all regularly scheduled school days. Check out our Club Calendar for specific dates!

Check-In: Members check-in with our Club Staff right outside the school gym.

Snack: At Club we eat a healthy snack provided by the Missoula Food Bank, which includes a vegetable, protein, fruit, grain, and milk. We serve an average of 40,790 snacks each school year!

Safety: We track each member's unique schedule and work together with the school and local teachers to ensure everyone is where they are supposed to be!

What do we do at Club?

Power Hour: Power Hour is where members achieve academic success through homework help, tutoring and high-yield learning activities and which encourage them to become self-directed learners.

Activities: Each of our sites has lots of space for our kids to run and play, to jump rope, throw a ball, or shoot baskets. We also use plenty of arts and crafts supplies to create unique creations and science experiments.

Daily Physical Activity: Virtually every single day each Club Member participates in some form of physical activity, with one day a week having the main activity dedicated to fun games that encourage physical activity.

Emotional Wellness: BGCM works with the University of Montana and it's social work programs to bring in UM Practicum students to run emotional wellness programming at all of our sites every other week.

Pulse Checks: To make sure our members feel a sense of belonging at Club we are always looking for ways to get youth input. By providing meaningful choices to members, we let them set the direction of our programming, and keep them involved in planning activities they’re interested in. A strong youth voice equals a fun and inclusive environment!

Club isn't over till 6PM!

Parent Pick-Up: Only parents, or an authorized adult, can pick-up your kid from Club. Enter the Clubhouse and speak with one of our staff to check-out your kid before 6PM.

Ask About Their Day: Our staff are focused on building those strong 1on1 relationships with youth. So ask them how your kids day went so we can work together!

Why We Serve Youth:  How a young person spends the hours outside of school can be a key factor in his or her development. We see ourselves as a key partner in strengthening the Missoula County community by keeping our Club Members active and healthy in the hours after school and during the summer.
