Hello Club Families!
In an effort to continuously serve members during Club closure, Boys & Girls Clubs of Missoula County is providing distance-based, virtual programming for Club members and community kids, through which Club staff will facilitate program activities through online platforms. BGCM will use software, tools and applications provided by third parties that members, parents/guardians and/or staff will access via the Internet and use for purposes of communication and programming. These platforms include: BGCA’s My Future Platform and Zoom for video conferencing.
It's called BGCM ON(line)!
Starting March 23rd we will be sending out our first day of BGCM ON programming to Club Families that have registered.
How to Register:
Before members can access MyFuture or BGCM ON programming, to ensure the safety of our Club Members, and to keep parents and guardians informed, we now two ways to register for this free resource:
1. Send a signed consent form to john@bgcmissoulacounty.org
2. OR read the consent form then send this consent statement to john@bgcmissoualcounty.org:
"I, [parent/guardian full name]
have read the consent and agree to the terms for my child(ren), [kid(s) name]."
Once you have signed and turned in the consent form, or emailed a consent statement, you will receive instructions on how to register your kids on MyFuture and then starting the 23rd you will receive the first day of BGCM ON via email.
Consent Form Information:
Club members will access the My.Future platform to create their own member profile (which require Club staff approval) and start earning recognition. Members can earn stars (for completing lessons or activities), badges (for completing clusters of activities) and master badges (for achieving a specific number of badges).
What is MyFuture?
MyFuture lets Boys & Girls Club members of all ages use digital tools to learn, play and socialize, as part of the digital Club experience. Here, members like you can share media projects, participate in contests to win prizes and earn badges to show what you’ve accomplished.
What does a day of BGCM ON look like?
Our first day of activities will be sent on Monday 3/23, which includes using MyFuture. There are a lot of cool activities on MyFuture for you to explore, but I recommend waiting to use them until we start our programs. Our goal is to make BGCM ON as easy as possible for our members to do by themselves, but I recommend an adult participate as well if possible, especially for our younger members.
The first few activities we will be doing on MyFuture go over internet safety, creating an anti-cyberbullying pledge, learning healthy habits, and exploring visual arts! We're hoping to balance fun and educational activities as we use this new online platform.
Finally, everyday includes a physical wellness activity! When you're stuck inside all day, we tend to forget to move around and stay active. So we are encouraging everyone (not just our members) to stay active with fun activities!
Daily Zoom Conference Call's With Club Staff
From 3/23 to 3/27, at 3PM, we will have a Club Staff member host a fun Zoom call for our Club Members. This will include a group community builder activity, followed up by story time! These calls are designed to be interactive and fun during a time where we can't see friends as often as we'd like. Everyone is invited!
Staying connected through #bgcmON
While everyone is staying home, it is hard to stay connected to friends and other Club members, so we are introducing #bgcmON. Anytime you finish a project or an activity you want to share, post it on social media with the hashtag, and tag one of our social media pages at @bgcmissoula. We can't wait to see what you come up with!
Any Questions or Feedback?
If you have any questions or need additional support, do not hesitate to reach out to me directly, and I will help in any way I can. We are getting through this together!
Thanks,
